There has been a never ending debate on how every family should limit their size. In China, the One-Child Policy was implemented more than a quarter-century ago which made it the lowest in population growth among all developing countries. About .6 percent growth per year. Economic Analysts say that this has made China an economic tyrant. What bothers many however, is the social problems that rose because of the policy. Countless numbers of abortion, sterilization and other unethical procedures were done by citizens in order to avoid penalties.
Questions are raised on how a nation should handle the problem in population. It seems that through stricter implementation, there is always a big downside that accompanies it. Which brings to mind, why do so many countries treat population as a problem. Couldn't it be considered as a cure for the never ending problems that societies face?
Population: a downside. More people means less supply. Food, shelter and other resources that are needed to survive. In cities, like Queens or Los Angeles, there is a homeless person at almost every corner, experiencing hunger and great discomfort. In other nations such as India and the Philippines, there are areas wherein over a hundred families inhabit a square mile. Continuous shortage in necessities which eventually causes health problems. These people have nowhere to go to but the government which cannot accommodate everyone.
Population: a nation's treasure. A nation cannot function well without its citizens. They are one of the elements that build up a nation and might even be the most important at that. The more employed citzens, the more efficient a country's economy would be. Either that or a strong sense of disposition which may create a mindset among all in order to have a better functioning society.
Still it is questioned if over population really affects a country's economic progress. The main argument that most give in their blogs, essays and forums is that too many people consume resources which results to scarcity. What should be questioned are those below the poverty line. The ones where most have more than five children in the family. They cannot even afford to purchase products. Maybe what should be done for now is the other citizen's consumerism. One should be able to minimize it in order to make way for everybody. Hoarding of goods and other needs might be one of the causes why some nations experience economic difficulties.
