So I've been writting some stuff, and hopefully I'll manage to publish it on my blog pretty soon. Here's a preview. There rest, pretty soon on my blog.

Two hooded figures walked the dark corridors, with a dim torch as their only guidance. The darkness made them seem almost identical, both dressed in thick silk, with deep hoods covering their heads. When the burning torch managed to cast vague shadows, one could see that the left man was a bit taller and bulkier, while the other man, who was carrying the torch, has his fingers covered in golden rings.

“Light?!” a voice made itself heard. “Is any one there? Help me! I beg you! I’m innocent.” The voice started to grow in intensity, startling the man with the torch. “Heeeeeelp me!”

The tall man continued his walk, ignoring the screams that were getting louder and louder; and more desperate, like the screams of a man who hasn’t seen light for years and was now getting overexcited at a pale glance.

“How long has he been in here?” the man with the torch asked.

“Who knows…” the other replied “It’s hard to keep track of all the scum that fills this place.”

“You mean you really don’t know?!” Amazement could be felt in the man’s voice. “But how do you know when to release him? Has he even been to trial? What kind of justice are you serving here, Minister?”

The tall man stopped and turned around to face the other man. The torch could only light his mouth, as the rest was covered by the hood. His mouth displayed an sarcastic grin for a few seconds before speaking, making sure it could be seen by the other.

“Divine Justice, of course. Don’t forget, Count, that I am a man of the Church, the true Church, since the time of the Emperor. We deal with heretics and dangerous men here. And God has decided that this is their place. If He decides otherwise, they will find their way to freedom; until then, they are here to pay for their sins.”

“But that man, he sounded so…”

“We are wasting time here, Count.” The minister’s voice began to rise. “Thinking of what is ahead of us – are you getting startled by the sounds of a simple heretic? In that case, maybe we should cancel our walk for tonight…”

A moment of silence felt between the two, while the Count lowered his head, thinking.

“No, no… We cannot forfeit… Let us continue. Show me the way to this assassin of yours…”

They continued their walk through the dark corridors, sometimes climbing tight ladder, always guided by the torch’s dim light. Finally, they stopped in front of a door, with the Minister revealing a key chain and looking for a specific key.

“This is it” he said. “Are you ready, Count? Once we open the door, there will be no going back. So, if there was any moment perfect for you changing your mind, this would be it.”

“No…” the Count said. “The Party has decided. There is no turning back… Show me this tool you promised us.”

“As you wish…”
