Crime and Punishment

Raskolnikov, a destitute and desperate former student, wanders through the slums of St Petersburg and commits a random murder without remorse or regret. He imagines himself to be a great man, a Napoleon: acting for a higher purpose beyond conventional moral law. But as he embarks on a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a suspicious police investigator, Raskolnikov is pursued by the growing voice of his conscience and finds the noose of his own guilt tightening around his neck. Only Sonya, a downtrodden prostitute, can offer the chance of redemption.

    Well worth reading

The original crime thriller. Dostoevsky subtly captures the disintegration of the main character's mind following a brutal murder. This is a brilliantly uncomfortable and discocerting book - read it.

    Crime and Punishment

Unmissable classic title. Keeps you focussed to the very end. Could we get away with crime? A great moral message to any wondering.

    Moral Message

Gripping and unusual story that keeps you focused, and makes you feel that you are in the heart of Russia itself! A great moral message for those curious as to whether anyone could get away with crime.
