This is one of those books that I could quite happily read over again and again, and my favourite Anita Shreve book so far. fifteen-year-old Olympia spends the summer at Fortune's Rocks with her parents and whilst their she falls in love with a friend of her father's. Although he is married with children he finds Olympia hard to resist and they treasure the few months they have before they are discovered and torn apart. What unfolds from there takes Olympia all over New England before she manages to return to Fortune's Rocks on her own terms, and fight for what is rightfully hers. Olympia's courage, determination and ultimate sacrifice is inspiring and Shreve, as always, writes beautifully, it is possible to get completely immersed in this powerful story.
