Jing and Kir steal the time itself from the city of Adonis where time is kept in clockwork grapes. What started as just another job for the King of Bandits becomes quite complicated when he's forced to take refuge with a band of schedule - hating rebels who reside in the cemetery below the clockwork city.

While continuing his relentless pursuit of information on Dark Mousy, Takeshi is distracted from his mission when he encounters a mysterious young woman in a museum. He falls instantly in love with her, and recruits Daisuke to help him find out who she is. Strangely, she doesn't seem to live anywhere near their city.

Rath's mental state has deteriorated to the point that he lashes out at his closest allies who are duly concerned for his well-being. It is only after Cesia is apprehended that Rath comes to realize that his allies are all he has left and in his haste to rescue her, Rath is duped by her doppelganger and the demon within him is revived.

With the remaining villagers now safe, Kyoshiro and Yuya take to the road again, where they meet a town full of hungry orphans, including a pickpocket named Kouta and his young sister. Kyoshiro convinces Kouta that he should give up his life of crime, but Kazura, the beautiful pickpocket ringleader, will not hear it and has Kouta beaten.

Kyo, having delivered Kyoshiro's message, turns his attention to Sasuke, whom he recognizes as the Brave with a constant killing intent towards him during the Ieyasu incident in books 4 and 5. Sasuke picks a fight with Kyo to see which one of their Muramasa swords is the famed 'Tenro' (Heaven Wolf) said to have slain 10,000 or even 100,000.
