Bookseller review
A briliantly readable biography about one of the world's greatest dramatist and poet. Examining centuries of myths and half-truths, the author tries to make sense of the man behind the masterpieces.

Well, it's all right, but only all right. There's a touch of the Wikipedia's at times as the occasional QI-style chunk of Tudor/Stuart life is lobbed in but it's reasonable enough.
There are a few quality parenthetical clauses to generate the odd smile but overall it verged on being hard work. Unfortunately, we have to wait to the final chapter to see Bryson at his best as he flicks the ears of Shakespeare's various unhinged nay-sayers.
