The Bourne Identity

He was dragged from the sea, his body riddled with bullets. There are a few clues: a frame of microfilm surgically implanted beneath the skin of his hip; evidence that plastic surgery has altered his face; strange things he says in his delirium, which could be code words. And a number on the film negative that leads to a bank account in Zurich, four million dollars, and a name for the amnesiac: Jason Bourne. Now he is running for his life. A man with an unknown past and an uncertain future, the target of assassins and at the heart of a deadly puzzle. He's fighting for survival and no one can help him - except the one woman who once wanted to escape him ...

Ever been confused about who you are? You haven't been as confused as Jason Bourne...

You may have already seen the film 'The Bourne Identity' starring Matt Damon, and most probably found it fast-paced, intelligent, and a great action movie. Well, the film, despite its complications, is a simplification of the book on which it was based. Jason Bourne, in the film, was pursued by the US Government: in the novel, Bourne is also hunted by the most feared assasin in all the world, Carlos the Jackal. The Jackal's network of informers, agents and assasins all converge on the target, Bourne: the only problem is that Bourne does not know who he is, never mind his pursuers. With an extremely fast pace and fantastic detail, Ludlum intelligently weaves together a web of international espionage and mystery. A fantastic read!
