Bookseller review
In this book Haddon has achieved a rare feat, a modern classic which will appeal to both young and old. The plot portrays a sweet, straightforward childhood tale but delve a little deeper and you find a compelling insight into the mind of a child with Asberger's Syndrome.

Christopher is an intelligent youth who lives in the functional hinterland of autism--every day is an investigation for him because of all the aspects of human life that he does not quite get. When the dog next door is killed with a garden fork, Christopher becomes quietly persistent in his desire to find out what has happened and tugs away at the world around him until a lot of secrets unravel messily. A beautifully written book...Warm and often funny

Simplistically written, very amusing in places. An all round good read.

There are very few books that have made me laugh out loud and this is one of them. The young hero Christopher, finds a neighbour's dog stabbed with a garden fork and takes it upon himself to solve the "murder" thus starting an unusual adventure. Christopher is an autistic teenager whom I never thought I would be able to identify with, but as the story unfolds, you cannot help being charmed and impressed by his unique way of thinking. This is in my top ten books of all time, and everyone I have recommended it to agrees it is absolutely brilliant.

'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time' is a children’s story like no other. The novel is narrated by a highly intelligent 15 year old boy called Christopher Boone. He is more than a little different from your average child though, as he has a form of Autism called Asperger’s Syndrome. When a next door neighbour’s dog is murdered with a garden fork, Christopher decides to investigate the crime, setting off on both a journey to find the killer, and a journey of self-discovery. The book is brilliant as we admire Christopher rather than pity him. His intelligence shines through and you find yourself enjoying learning about astrology, prime numbers, and the deeper philosophical questions we come across in life. It is a curious (haha!) tale which has won numerous awards, and is popular with both children and adults alike.
