My favourite and arguably Camus’s most successful portrayal of society’s absurdities. Following the initially charismatic, egocentric exploits of prominent lawyer Jean Baptiste Clemance and his subsequent fall into obscurity, alcoholism and isolation. The book manages to make the reader feel part of the society which has broken this once proud man.
