Bookseller review
Very different from the successful musical, this book has stronger political undertones, but is still escapist fun. It follows the life of Elphaba, “Wicked” Witch of the West and will challenge your ideas of good and evil. There is another side to every story, even in Oz.

As Kermit the Frog once sagely remarked 'it aint easy being green', and for Elphaba Thropp, aka 'The Wicked Witch of the West' truer words have never been spoken. Maguire takes us to an Oz we've never seen before, yes the yellow brick road is still yellow, but those walking its fabled cobbles are not the innocents we've been led to believe, and the wonderful wizard himself is anything but a kindly and caring leader. A complex and dark tale that leaves us in little doubt that 'we're no longer in Kansas anymore'
