Bookseller review
It's a book about friendship and leisure time spent by the riverbank or in the wild wood with Ratty, Mole an Badger. Pagan and comforting, it's a life-long favourite of mine.
Review by Sarah D of the London - Charing Cross Rd Borders on 2009-01-31 12:51:55
There are times when I long to sit back, relax, and watch life go by. Very much much like Ratty on his beloved river, watching the frantic and stressed out Mr. Mole going about his spring cleaning.
Kenneth Grahame's classic brings me that feeling each time I dip into it. With child's eyes once again I laugh at self-obsessed Toad and cringe at the ferociously independent Badger. I smile a child's smile because I recognise bits of my adult self in all of Grahame's characters. To me, this is why it is a timeless classic.
Robert Ingpen's marvelous illustrations breathe new life into this lovely edition of "Wind In The Willows".
