Refunds and exchanges

We want you to be completely happy with everything you buy from Borders. If you’re not satisfied with something you’ve bought, simply return the item(s) and we’ll send you a replacement or refund your money.

For a refund or exchange, the item(s) need to be returned:

  • in their original condition – ideally in the original packaging
  • within 30 days of the day you bought them
  • with a receipt

Store purchases: returning items

You can return items you bought in store to any Borders or Books etc store, but not by post.

Online purchases: returning items

You can return items you’ve bought at Borders.co.uk:

  • in person at a Borders or Books etc store – remember to take your receipt
  • by post using the returns label that came with your order

How to return an item by post

We recommend you use a registered mail service that includes insurance for your returns. We can only give you a refund or exchange if we receive the items.

1. Fill in the returns form that came with your receipt. Tell us why you’re returning the item(s) and whether you want a refund or a replacement.

2. Use the returns address sticker to address your item and put the form in with your package.

3. Post your item back to us.

Damaged or incorrect items

If your item arrives damaged or we send you the wrong item, we’re sorry. We’ll refund what you paid for the item as well as any postage costs.

How you’ll be refunded

We’ll make the refund to the card that was used to pay for the original order. We’re not able to make cash refunds. If you bought your item(s) in a store, you’ll need to return them to any Borders high street store.

 

Returning an eReader

If you are unhappy with your eReader you may return this for a full refund provided you let us know within 14 days of receipt.  

If your eReader arrives damaged, please let us know within 7 days of receipt so that we can arrange to replace it.  Outside this timescale we are unable to provide a replacement and you will be responsible for the cost of repair/replacement.

If your eReader is faulty, please let us know within 14 days of receipt in order to arrange return and replacement or a full refund.  After 14 days, the manufacturer will offer either repair or replacement.
