British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell have both been signed by Columbia pictures to star in a comedy version of the Sherlock Holmes tales.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's infamous detective of Baker Street will be played by Borat and Ali G creator Cohen, while his sidekick Watson will be played by Anchorman star Ferrell.
Judd Apatow, the talent behind Knocked Up and Superbad, will produce the film alongside Jimmy Miller, while Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) is on scripting duties.
Columbia's co-president Matt Tolmach told Variety: "Just the idea of Sacha and Will as Sherlock Holmes and Watson makes us laugh.
"Sacha and Will are two of the funniest and most talented guys on the planet, and having them take on these two iconic characters is frankly hilarious."
Cohen and Ferrell have worked together previously on the 2006 hit Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
