Quashing rumours that he is to retire Eddie Murphy has confirmed that he is planning to star in a fourth movie of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
The move will see Murphy reprising the most famous role of his career, Axel Foley.
The actor claims that he is not choosing to revisit the series because of money, but "because the third Beverly Hills Cop was horrible! I didn't want to leave it like that. The first two were cool. [Let's] get the franchise fixed again, clean up this old mess and do a good movie."
Murphy, who has endured a series of box office flops in recent years including The Adventures Of Pluto Nash, Metro, Holy Man, Norbit, Daddy Day Care, Showtime, I Spy and Vampire in Brooklyn admits that Foley is the character that he has had most success with.
He said: "When I go overseas they still call me Axel Foley - kids call me Axel Foley. I think that character, it resonated like no other movie, like nothing that I've done before."
