Rhys Ifans has said that the opportunity to join his new band The Peth as a lead singer came along at the perfect time.
The Notting Hill actor split from his British girlfriend Sienna Miller in June, which coincided nicely with the festival season.
Ifans has been appearing at numerous events in his new role, which has provided a welcome relief to his heartache and has helped him take his mind off his troubles.
He explained: "It had all kinds of poetic symmetry. I'm not the kind to lie down on a couch. This band came bang on the right time. I thought, 'Right, I'm going back to gang life.' "
When asked whether any of the tracks on the album are about Miller, Ifans replied: "Jesus Christ, no," adding that the actress "doesn't deserve" a song.
The Peth's album The Golden Mile is due for release on September 1st.
