The Killers front-man Brandon Flowers has revealed that he wants to write the best song of all time and believes that it is a realistic ambition to have.
The 27-year-old, who admits to having "a drive bordering on obsession" cited John Lennon's timeless hit Imagine as inspiration.
He said: "My ultimate ambition is to write the best song of all time. It's exciting to me that's a possibility and I do believe it is possible.
"I'd love to write a song like John Lennon's 'Imagine', to have something as cut and dried as that."
Flowers also said that he loved U2 but that they were getting old now and that he did not believe in placing restrictions on his band or on their future.
He has sparked feuds with other bands, notably The Bravery and Fall Out Boy, in the past but recently admitted that he wanted to take his comments back and was not proud of his actions.
The Killers released their third album, Day & Age, on November 24th.
