Jessica Simpson is thinking about going back to college and taking a course in theology, she has revealed.

The actress-turned-singer said that Dan Brown's controversial bestseller The Da Vinci Code, which caused outrage for portraying highly questionable interpretations of the bible including Jesus fathering a child, inspired her to think more deeply about religion.

"I've been contemplating taking a college course in religion," the Dukes of Hazzard star told Marie Claire.

"I love religion. I remember when the book The Da Vinci Code came out, the Discovery Channel did this three-night piece on it that I recorded and then watched eight times."

Simpson is divorced from 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey and is now dating American football player Tony Romo.

The 28-year-old also dated musician John Mayer shortly after her divorce from Lachey.

She recently released her first country album, Do You Know.

Simpson's younger sister Ashlee recently gave birth to her first child with Fall Out Boy husband Pete Wentz.
