Craig says fame is a pain

Craig says fame is a pain

2009-01-06

Daniel Craig has complained about how much attention he attracts in his personal life since being cast as James Bond.

The 40-year-old actor made his debut in the iconic spy franchise in the 2006 movie Casino Royale and his second outing, Quantum of Solace, was released last year.

Although Craig has completely rejuvenated the character and he insists that he loves playing Bond, he admits that he struggles to deal with the accompanying fame, saying that life "got flipped on its head" when he was cast in the role.

"All of a sudden, everybody recognised me. I can't go out without being recognised. Simply put, it's a pain in the ass," he told the Sunday Times.

"People say, 'You're an actor. Isn't that what you do?' But I don't do it to be recognised. I do it because I get a kick out of doing it. I have had to reassess the way I look at the world, the way I live my life."
