Cole says she won't quit Girls Aloud

2009-01-13

Cheryl Cole has said that she will not leave Girls Aloud, despite what reports may say.

Since the 25-year-old won a place as a judge on TV talent show The X Factor she has attracted considerably more media attention than the other band members Nadine, Kimberley, Sarah and Nicola.

Cole has also appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine and recent reports claimed that music mogul Simon Cowell wanted to launch her in the US following her triumph on the X Factor last year.

However, speaking to the Guardian, Cole said that she might engage in solo projects but that she would never leave the band.

Asked whether she thought the other girls were worried about her leaving, she replied: "That's a horrible thing to think. I mean, I'm not comparing us to Destiny's Child, but they all went off and did their own things but then came back to the group."

The singer also acknowledged that she would not be where she is today had she not won a place in the band when she appeared on Popstars: The Rivals back in 2002.

"We'd be completely different people," she said.
