You need to read the first book to read this and understand it (even though it`s over a really short time period). Sephy is a Cross - a member of the dark-skinned ruling class. Callum is a nought - a colourless member of the underclass who were once slaves to the Crosses. Against a background of prejudice and distrust, highlighted by violent terrorist activity by Noughts, a romance builds between them - a romance that is to lead both of them into danger.

Noughts and Crosses

This book is more suitable for older teens. It covers very strong ethical issues that is mixed in with romance and trouble. In this book it is the reverse of how it would have been, the "whites" being the "noughts" and the "blacks" being the "crosses". Sephy, a "superior" black, falls in love with Callum, an "inferior" white, to them the colour of their skin doesn`t matter but it seems to be ...
