| adore this book. It has the perfect mix of romance, drama and excitement. It is set during the war period in Germany and tells the story of Lily, an orphan and her struggle with life and her pursuits as an actress and where it leads. The reference to actual events in this book are weaved into the story perfectly. Any fans of German cinema will love it. | |

| The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson |

| Review by Helen | Store - Preston |
| Review | |
| Terrific, every bit as good as the first instalment with the characters getting more interesting. Very strong storyline as before and still that Swedish aura which makes a good book in translation. | |

| Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer |
|
| Review by Moritiz | Store - Cambridge |
| Review | |
| First published in 1999, Krakauer's remarkable book only became an international bestseller after the making of the so called movie. The beautifully written, true story of a young man breaking ties with his normal life to escape into the wild of Alaska is a touching book you will find hard to put aside. | |

| Doctor Who: The Time Traveller's Almanac by Steve Tribe |
|
| Review by Graeme | Store - Dundee |
| Review | |
| This Almanac details events mainly concerning the 9th and 10th Doctors, but with bits of old series info as well. A nice touch is that there's lots of real facts from history as well. Fans of the programme you will love this book as it gives tons of background to the stuff you see on the screen. This is a brilliant book which adds so much stuff it should be kept in a locked box. Inside a cage. | |

| The Spook's Apprentice by Joseph Delaney |
|
| Review by Leah | Store - Glasgow |
| Review | |
| If you like your kids books scary, then you really have to check out the Wardstone Chronicles. Young Tom Ward is the seventh son of a seventh son so is sent to be the apprentice to the local spook. Soon he is fighting witches and boggarts and his life will never be the same again. I love the Wardstone Chronicles, and ever book in the series just gets better and better. This is a great start. | |

| Cannery Row by John Steinbeck |
|
| Review by Calum | Store - Manchester Fort |
| Review | |
| 'Cannery Row' depicts the misfits and outsiders of the 'American Dream', the bonds that hold them together and the mischief and chaos that result. The Slinas Vally setting is a romantic backdrop to a web of ostracised relationships. Steinbeck's best by far. | |
